Dylan Beavers was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right oblique strain after experiencing discomfort during batting practice before Tuesday’s game. The injury is considered low-grade, but it adds to Baltimore’s growing injury troubles, as the Orioles now have 13 players on the IL.

Jordan Westburg will miss the entire 2026 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow this week, ending hopes of a return later this year. The Orioles expect the 27-year-old infielder to begin a lengthy rehab process with a potential return in early 2027.
Baltimore Orioles head groundskeeper Nicole Sherry is stepping away after 20 years at Camden Yards, the team announced Monday. When she was hired in Baltimore, Sherry became just the second woman to serve as a head groundskeeper for a Major League Baseball team.
Sherry will prepare the mound for the last time Tuesday night before throwing out the ceremonial first pitch ahead of Baltimore’s game against the New York Yankees. She will then begin a new role Wednesday with the Maryland Department of Agriculture as assistant secretary of Plant Industries and Pest Management.

Ryan Helsley (elbow) could begin throwing later this week. He will be evaluated later this week to determine if his elbow is ready.

Dean Kremer was recently placed on the 15-day injured list with a right quad strain, retroactive to April 20, sidelining him after just two starts this season.
The severity isn’t fully known yet, but he’s expected to miss at least a couple of starts while the Orioles monitor his recovery and adjust their rotation.

Jeremiah Jackson delivered the biggest moment of the night for the Baltimore Orioles, crushing a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning to cap a six-run rally.
That swing powered Baltimore to a 6–4 comeback win over the Cleveland Guardians, erasing a 4–0 deficit and showcasing Jackson’s growing impact in clutch situations.

Carlos Correa will miss the remainder of the 2026 season after suffering a torn ligament in his right ankle that requires surgery, an injury he aggravated while trying to beat out an infield hit. The expected recovery timeline stretches into the offseason, leaving his team without his power bat, elite defense, and veteran presence as they attempt to stay competitive down the stretch.

Longtime New York Yankees broadcaster John Sterling has passed away, marking the end of an era for one of baseball’s most recognizable voices. Known for his signature home run calls and decades behind the mic, Sterling leaves behind a lasting legacy in the game and among Yankees fans.

Tarik Skubal will undergo surgery to remove loose bodies from his left elbow, a procedure that typically requires a 2–3 month recovery period. While he is still expected to return before the end of the season, the injury is a significant setback for the two-time reigning AL Cy Young winner as he heads toward impending free agency.

Boston Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet was placed on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to April 26, 2026) with left shoulder inflammation. An MRI confirmed only inflammation with no structural damage, and he is expected to return in mid-May 2026, possibly as early as May 12, after resuming light throwing.
The Philadelphia Phillies fired manager Rob Thomson after the team’s disappointing 9-19 start to the 2026 season, despite making the playoffs in each of his four full years with the club. Don Mattingly was named interim manager as Philadelphia looks to turn around one of the worst starts in baseball.
The Boston Red Sox made a sweeping move Saturday, firing manager Alex Cora along with several key members of his coaching staff after a disappointing 10–17 start to the 2026 season. Coaches including hitting coach Peter Fatse, bench coach Ramon Vazquez, and others like Dillon Lawson and Kyle Hudson were let go as part of the shakeup, while Chad Tracy was named interim manager.

The San Diego Padres signed Lucas Giolito to a one-year contract for the 2026 season that includes a mutual option for 2027.
The deal is worth roughly $3 million with incentives, as San Diego added him to help stabilize a rotation hit hard by injuries and provide veteran depth moving forward.

The Detroit Tigers locked up top prospect Kevin McGonigle with an eight-year, $150 million contract extension, signaling their confidence in him as a cornerstone of the franchise.
The deal, which begins in 2027 and could reach up to $160 million with incentives, buys out his arbitration years and early free agency as he’s already producing at a high level early in his rookie season.

The Chicago Cubs have agreed to a six-year extension with Nico Hoerner worth around $70–75 million, buying out his remaining arbitration years and securing cost certainty through his prime. The deal reflects Hoerner’s value as a Gold Glove-caliber defender at second base and a table-setter at the top of the lineup, coming off a season where he hit for average, stole bases efficiently, and provided steady production on both sides of the ball.
